Review: Cuisinart MultiClad Pro Stainless Steel 12 Piece Cookware Set
My husband and I love to cook together, especially now that we have the Cuisinart MultiClad Pro Stainless Steel 12-Piece Cookware Set. Cooking wasn’t always such a pleasant experience for us. It used to be loaded with frustration at how the pots and pans behaved on the stove, whether they heated up evenly, or as much as we wanted them to, and whether our food turned out delicious or burned. It seemed to be hit or miss every time we went into the kitchen. We knew we had nothing near the top of the line cookware, but we didn’t really know all there was to know about it either. Finally, one night, my husband had enough of trying to rotate the pot around the stove top so the food would cook evenly. He threw his hands up in disgust and went straight to his computer to find us a cooking set worthy of our kitchen. He did lots of research and I’m including all the benefits of that research in my review of the Cuisinart pots and pans we finally purchased.
What’s inside the box?
We were so excited when the box arrived with our new pots and pans, the battle ensued over who would get to open it. Of course, my husband was faster, whipping out his pocket knife and carefully cutting the tape open before I could make it to the kitchen to find the scissors. I wasted no time heading to the cupboard to find all the old pots and pans and started clearing them out. When we got all the items out of the box and unwrapped, we lined them all up for inventory on the counter. It was like we had them on display ready to show off to the first person who walked in the door. We got two saucepans, one holds 1.5 quarts and the other holds 3 quarts. There were two skillets, 8 and 10 inches, one 3.5 quart saute pan, an 8 quart stockpot, and a steamer insert. This was everything we really needed in the way of pots and pans, and since were able to get them all at once, we could easily say goodbye to those hated pots and pans that had the nerve to ever touch our food.
Tri-Ply 18/10 for the win!!
Before we actually made up our minds and clicked the purchase button, my husband insisted on doing tons of research. It’s a good thing he really did his homework because we learned all about what makes a good pan. Apparently Tri-ply 18/10 stainless steel construction with an aluminum core is THE best way to go. It’s the highest quality pan you can get. Here’s why: Stainless steel is extremely durable. It’s hard and tough and can withstand just about anything you can put it through in the kitchen. Aluminum, on the other hand is not so tough. It tends to be very soft and can dent easily. So, the stainless steel is on the outside to protect the pan and it also gives it a great look and is easy to clean. The aluminum is also very important. If the pan was all stainless steel, the heat wouldn’t transmit quickly at all and may not even be distributed as evenly. However, aluminum transmits heat very quickly and evenly, so making it the core makes for better cooking results. So you get the best of both worlds – the durability of stainless steel combined with the even heat distribution of aluminum.
There’s more to these pans than just good looks!
Every pot and pan in the set has the same brushed exterior and mirror finish interior. Cuisinart has done well to combine the highest quality with fabulous looks. The quality doesn’t stop with the Tri-ply either. The handles are made of solid 18/10 stainless-steel and have a patented design which helps them to stay cool on the stove top. They are also riveted for strength so you needn’t worry about pulling off the handle as I have done countless times with my old cookware. Even the lids were well thought out and designed. They’re made to fit tight when the pot gets hot to better seal in nutrients for healthier and tastier results. They may seem to be a bit loose at first, but as the pot heats up, you’ll notice they make a great seal. The lids are interchangeable, so you don’t have to worry about getting just the right one every time and they can also work on the skillets.
One of my favorite things about this product, is that all the pots and pans are oven safe up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. This is very convenient for keeping food warm after cooking. Just the other day, I baked a round loaf of crusty bread in my stockpot. The recipe actually said to cook the bread in a pot; I was very thankful I had these and my bread turned out great.
Perhaps the best feature of all is that they are dishwasher safe. They come with instructions for cleaning to keep them looking fabulous even when they’re several years old. Truly, the cleanup is just as easy as on a nonstick pan, but without all the chemicals and potential hazards of nonstick cookware. The pots also have a drip-free pouring rim which is designed for easy pouring and less spillage. I hate it when I’m boiling water for tea and half the water goes everywhere but inside my cup. I have a much better time of pouring with this set.
Do your pans drive you nuts with tipping, tilting or not balancing properly on your burner? You may notice this more if you have a flat top stove. It can get frustrating when the pan is gliding all over the surface of your stove. This was probably my husband’s biggest source of frustration with our old pots and is one of the major reasons he threw his hands up in disgust and headed to the computer to order a set of quality pots and pans. These pans are bottom heavy, so they don’t tip as easily and they’ll stay put where you set them.
There is a limited lifetime warranty which just gives you a few warm fuzzies when you’re buying the product-you can be sure the manufacturer believes in it. All of these features give the highest quality, but the set is still extremely affordable, and is much more inexpensive than some of its top competitors.
Don’t take our word for it! Look at what others have to say:
- “… You can get them perfectly clean very easily… “
- “… Cuisinart Multi Clad isn’t as good as All Clad; IT’S BETTER! …”
- “… I got the Cuisinart line and absolutely have loved it ever since …”
